Overview
Crane hire in Edinburgh
We supply mobile cranes with operators and run contract lifts across Edinburgh and the Lothians, for loads from 20kg to 1,000 tonnes.
Central Edinburgh is a World Heritage Site of setts, slopes and listed fronts, so a lift there comes down to one workable position. Out of the centre there is more room. Tell us where the site is and we will plan to it.
Areas
Every EH postcode, Fife, the Borders and the rest of Scotland, and the rest of the UK.
Cranes
City cranes and light truck cranes for the historic centre, all-terrain mobile cranes for heavy plant and the waterfront, and our electric pick and carry cranes indoors.
No lift plan?
Book a contract lift. Our appointed person surveys, plans and supervises it, fully insured.
Budget first?
Send photos, the weight and the reach. A desktop quote normally follows the same day.

How it works
How an Edinburgh lift is booked
Send the details
Load weight and size, the address, where it lands and photos of the street, with any listed fronts.
We price it
We quote from what you send, and visit first where the slope or the street needs a look.
We plan it
For a contract lift our appointed person writes the lift plan and RAMS, with the hours the street allows, before the day.
Edinburgh
Lifting in and around Edinburgh
We cover the Old and New Towns, Leith and the waterfront, the business parks in the west, and out across the Lothians.
Where we lift
The centre
The Old Town, the New Town, Stockbridge and Marchmont
North
Leith, Granton, Newhaven and Portobello
West and south
Corstorphine, Sighthill, South Gyle and Liberton
The Lothians
Musselburgh, Dalkeith, Penicuik and Livingston
What we plan for
Routes in
The A720 bypass links the M8, A1, A7 and A702, so heavy plant goes round the city. Low bridges and weight limits are planned before we quote.
The historic streets
Setts, slopes, bus routes and listed frontages limit where a crane can stand, and some streets only work at set hours.
The tram
Lifts near the overhead lines need clearances, and sometimes an isolation, agreed in advance.
Rock and made ground
Parts of the centre sit on rock and others on cellars and made ground, and the Leith waterfront is reclaimed. The bearing is checked first.
Questions
Common questions
Can you lift in the Old Town?
Yes, with a compact crane in one chosen spot and the hours agreed. Send the address and photos.
What about August?
Central access during the festival is tight, so lifts there are planned around it early.
Can you lift near the tram line?
Yes, with the clearances and any isolation booked ahead.
Do you cover Fife and Livingston?
Yes, and the rest of the Lothians. Send us the postcode.
